Padtec S/A Announces Discontinuation of Metalized Fibers Business

Campinas, SP-Brazil, 12/29/2008 – Padtec S/A announces today the discontinuation of its Metalized Optical Fiber business. Padtec informs that, since October/2008, have stopped all Metalized Fiber production and commercialization and will concentrate its efforts in optical backbone (DWDM) equipment manufacturing.

Padtec informs that, a new established company, JÁ! Technologies acquired all the assets of Padtec and will take over the metalized fiber business, including all product portfolios. JÁ! Technologies is 100% owned by CPqD (Research and Development Center in Telecom). This new company offers metalized lensed fibers, optical sensors and optical packaging.

Mr. Claudemir Coral, who was in charge of metalized fiber commercial operation at Padtec is now taking over of the commercial operations at the new company and will be pleased to continue supplying metalized lensed fibers to all customers.
