The Optical Electrical STM-1 converter is a full duplex electrical optical and optical electrical converter for SDH/SONET signals operating at 155 Mbit/s (STM-1/OC 3).
It allows the simultaneous coding of a SDH STM1/SONET OC-3 optical signal into an electrical signal and vice versa, being that the electrical signal is coded according to ITU-T specifications for electrical SDH/SONET signals.
It has an internal management system for externalization of alarms and link “status” through LEDs located on the front panel and dry contact relays. It is featured in a 1U horizontal version for mounting in a subrack or in a 4U vertical version.
It is also featured with DC 48 V, AC or even Full Range (AC and DC) power supply.
In relation to the optical transmission it can use a 1310 or 1550 nm interface.
Reach extension of electrical 155 Mbit/s interfaces through the conversion to optical
signal. Examples of telecommunication systems which use interfaces at 155 Mbit/s are:

• Electrical to optical adaptation of STM-1 interface and vice versa, to allow communication between two systems operating in different environments
