Padtec contributes to the scientific and technological training of Inatel students

Company products will be used in teaching and research activities conducted at the institute’s DWDM optical network laboratory.

Contribute to the scientific and technological training of professionals in the area of optical systems and components for high-speed communication networks. This is the main goal of Padtec – one of the world’s leading optical communications systems – by delivering state-of-the-art equipment to the Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) laboratory of the National Telecommunications Institute (Inatel).

Located on the campus of Santa Rita do Sapucaí (Minas Gerais, Brazil), the laboratory seeks to extend the practical experience of college students in DWDM technology – which allows the transmission of several light beams, at different wavelengths, by the same optical fiber. In this space, teaching and research activities are developed in optical systems based on this technology, which make up the curriculum of the Telecommunications Engineering course and also the master’s degree in Telecommunications.

These activities now include the latest generation products from Padtec – such as optical switches, compact 4U sub-racks and optical multiplexers, among others. For André Abbade, professor of optical communications at the Telecommunications Engineering course and Coordinator of the Inatel Telecommunication Technology Higher Course, the partnership meets the mission of the institute to unite the classical academy to research and development and entrepreneurship. “The devices will be used in the discipline of Optical Communications, which has started to have special topics on the applications of DWDM systems, which results in better qualification and student performance in the labor market, which is increasingly convergent”, says Abbade.

“This initiative reinforces Padtec’s role as a national high-tech company, which invests in Brazilian research and development, and strengthens its position as a benchmark among future professionals in the industry”, said Roberto Nakamura, Padtec’s Technology Director. “Our goal is to foster technological development and contribute to the formation of an ecosystem in the area of optical systems in Brazilian universities”, he adds.
