Padtec donates DWDM technology equipment to the University of Antioquia in Colombia

The goal is to provide students with hands-on training using cutting-edge technology applied in the deployment of advanced data transmission networks.

Aiming to support the education of professionals and drive innovation in telecommunications in Colombia, Padtec is donating several pieces of equipment based on DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) technology to the University of Antioquia, located in the city of Medellín – one of the oldest universities in the region. The equipment, destined for the Department of Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering within the School of Engineering, will support hands-on training in laboratories as well as the development of projects focused on advanced data transmission networks.

“For students, this initiative provides a unique opportunity to practice with state-of-the-art technology and experience the deployment of high-capacity, long-distance network infrastructures using DWDM technology,” says Hernán Yepes, Padtec’s Regional Manager for Northern CALA. “With this donation, Padtec hopes to contribute to the academic and professional development of students, allowing them to complement and apply their theoretical knowledge in the creation of real-world infrastructures used in transport networks,” he adds.

The donated equipment includes optical amplifiers, multiplexers, and transponders – all essential components for boosting transmission capacity and efficiency in long-haul optical networks. “Each device offers features for implementing robust telecommunications infrastructures, as required in academic and research environments. Universities play a key role in training the next generation of telecommunications professionals by offering not only a place for learning but also an environment for inspiration, creativity, and growth,” concludes Yepes.
