Padtec ends the third quarter with an improvement in its operational performance

Operating revenue of the Brazilian supplier – which totals R$ 210.4 million in 2020 – grew 21.1%* as compared to the same period last year.

Padtec Holding (B3: PDTC3), the sole shareholder of Padtec S/A, a leading manufacturer of optical transport systems, closed the third quarter of 2020 with gross operating revenue of R$ 84.8 million**, which represents a growth of 32.1% in relation to the second quarter of the year. As a result, the company’s operating revenue reached R$ 210.4 million in the first 9 months of 2020 – an increase of 21.1%* in comparison with the same period last year.

This improved performance is a result of the increase in sales of Padtec’s two business units: equipment based on DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) technology and telecommunications network operation and maintenance services. These units were responsible, respectively, for 86% and 14% of the company’s revenue in the third quarter.

According to Argemiro Sousa, Padtec’s Business Director and Acting President, the changes in people’s habits and needs caused by social isolation, adopted to contain the Covid-19 pandemic, have generated an increase in traffic and demand for broadband in all the regions of Brazil – as well as in the world. “The positive results are a result of our growth, which, due to the pandemic, is even more accelerated. We ended the third quarter with a total of 34% more active customers, compared to the same period in 2019”, highlights the executive.

Also with an improvement in Managerial EBTIDA***, Padtec not only generated cash, but also continued operating in the black, with a net profit of R$ 7.8 million in the quarter. “Behind these numbers, there are great efforts, in technology and in operational efficiency, aimed at the preservation of our economic-financial balance”, evaluates Renato Jordão, Padtec’s CFO and Investor Relations Director.

In the research and development area, between January and September 2020, Padtec invested approximately R$ 25.6 million of its revenue in the creation of new products for high performance optical communication systems, maintaining the same ratio of investments in R&D as in the past few years. “Investment in technology is the differentiator that allows Padtec to remain competitive and at the forefront of knowledge in its area of expertise”, points out Roberto Nakamura, Padtec’s CTO. “Our focus is on providing networks capable of successfully adapting to the constant changes in demand, so that people and companies can remain connected”, he adds.
