With the new OTDR solution fully developed in Brazil, the company is also launching SmartFiber software, which performs proactive fiber monitoring.
Padtec, a global leader in optical communication systems, is introducing its proprietary optical fiber monitoring solution, based on OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) technology, to the market. Designed for telecommunications operators, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), and organizations that own and manage optical networks, Padtec’s solution comprises both hardware and software for optical fiber monitoring.
One of the hardware’s key differentiators is its line card design, which can be installed in available slots of compatible chassis, optimizing rack space and eliminating the need for a dedicated sub-rack. “This is a high-performance solution that seamlessly integrates with existing infrastructure, reducing costs, simplifying operations, and facilitating network management,” says Alexandre Piovesan, Product Director at Padtec.
The product is available in 4-port and 8-port versions, with optional integrated DWDM filters, and supports both AC and DC power systems. It also includes essential monitoring functionalities integrated into Padtec NMS+, the company’s network management platform.
To further enhance monitoring capabilities, Padtec is also launching SmartFiber, a cloud-based platform for advanced optical fiber monitoring. The solution features geolocation capabilities for route and event mapping, enabling the precise identification of fault locations. It also provides automated periodic measurements of fiber integrity and attenuation, event history tracking, and alarms for fiber cuts and other network events.
In addition, SmartFiber offers email and WhatsApp notifications and features a multi-tenant architecture that enables more effective access control. “With the OTDR Line Card and SmartFiber, we combine competitive cost, operational simplicity, and advanced monitoring capabilities, further strengthening Padtec’s portfolio, which already includes solutions resulting from our partnership with Viavi,” concludes Piovesan.
